Giving Tips for 2023

As we close out another year, let us give in reflection on what God has done in 2023 and in anticipation of what He will do in 2024 and beyond. Let’s say “I’ll Go” and live out our faith with generous and willing hearts this December! Here are a few practical giving tips as you prepare your year-end gifts:

1) Postmark checks by December 31 and mail them to the church office at Salty Church, 160 E Granada Blvd Ormond Beach, FL 32176. You are welcome to hand-deliver a check gift in person at church on the weekend through our giving boxes or during office hours, Monday through Friday, 9a - 4p. The office will be closed from December 25th - January 1st, but you can use our secure mailbox out front anytime.

2) Now is a great time to give stocks and other marketable securities. Giving stocks is a great way to maximize your charitable giving in a tax-efficient manner. Avoid the capital gains tax on the investment while receiving a full charitable deduction! If you want to make a stock gift, please contact Kristen in our office at 386-615-9180 or .

3) Are you 70 ½ or older?  If so, you may consider making charitable gifts through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian, payable to the charitable organization of your choice. QCDs can be counted towards satisfying your required minimum distributions for the year as long as specific rules are met.  In addition to the benefits of giving charitably, a QCD excludes the amount donated from taxable income, unlike regular withdrawals from an IRA.  Lowering your taxable income may reduce the impact of certain tax credits and deductions, including Social Security and Medicare. Also, QCDs don’t require that you itemize, which, due to the recent tax law changes, means you may decide to take advantage of the higher standard deduction but still use a QCD for charitable giving. If you’d like to discuss making a gift through a QCD, please contact kristen@salty.org or speak with your financial advisor.

We realize these tips don't apply to everyone, but we hope informing you of these great tax benefits will help you make the most of your 2023 giving. As we finish strong at the year’s end, let’s continue to advance the mission to rescue and empower disciples for Jesus.
