We believe “Generosity Changes Everything.” So, with that in mind, as you give at the year's end in 2024, let's give in reflection not only for what God has done in 2024 but also in anticipation of what He will do in 2025 and beyond. Generosity is an outward expression of an inward commitment. Thank you for your commitment to the mission here at Salty. Here are a few practical year-end giving tips as you prepare your gifts at the end of 2024:
1) Please make sure all checks are postmarked by December 31 and mailed to the church office at Salty Church, 160 E Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL 32176. You are welcome to hand-deliver a check gift either in person at church on a weekend through our giving boxes or during office hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office will be closed from December 25th to January 3rd, but you can use our secure mailbox out front anytime.
2) Now is a great time to give stocks and other marketable securities. Giving stocks is a great way not only to maximize your charitable giving through an investment you've made but also to do so in a tax-efficient manner, as you avoid the capital gains tax on the investment while receiving a full charitable deduction! If you are interested in making a stock gift, please contact Kristen in our office at 386-615-9180 or kristen@salty.org.
3) Are you 70 ½ or older? If so, you may want to consider making charitable gifts through a QCD (qualified charitable distribution). A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian, payable to the charitable organization of your choice. QCDs can be counted towards satisfying your required minimum distributions (RMDs) for the year as long as certain rules are met. In addition to the benefits of giving charitably, a QCD excludes the amount donated from taxable income, which is unlike regular withdrawals from an IRA. Keeping your taxable income lower may reduce the impact to certain tax credits and deductions, including Social Security and Medicare. Also, QCDs don’t require that you itemize, which, due to the recent tax law changes, means you may decide to take advantage of the higher standard deduction but still use a QCD for charitable giving. If you’d like to talk more about making a gift through a QCD, please contact Kristen in our office at kristen@salty.org or speak with your financial advisor.
We realize these provisions don't apply to everyone at Salty. Still, we hope informing you of these great tax benefits will help you make the most of your 2024 giving as we continue to advance God's mission to rescue and empower disciples for Jesus.
